Members of the British House of Lords Lord Stuart Polak, Lord David Trimble, Lord James Arbuthnot, Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones came to Türkiye with the invitation of our center and held a series of meetings. They first met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex. At the meeting, it was discussed that the relations between Türkiye and the UK should be improved, the joint fight against terrorism and Türkiye’s hosting of refugees. After the Presidential Complex, the members of the House of Lords, who went to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, toured the Assembly. AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Naci Bostancı took our guests to the place where the Parliament was bombed and gave detailed information about what happened on the night of the coup.
The members of the House of Lords met with the artists in Istanbul and talked about the cultural relations between the two countries. While our esteemed artists Ajda Pekkan, Ferhat Göçer, Sinan Akçıl and President of the Civilizations Choir Yılmaz Özfirat, TRT World Executive Producer Samed Karagöz and fashion designer Zeynep Kartal attended the dinner, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen hosted the dinner. Our guests later met with Türkiye’s leading businesspeople and discussed the economic relations between England and Türkiye.
